Investigations into incident at Perseus’ gold operation continue

Perseus Mining has launched an investigation and is working with authorities following a fatal offsite vehicle accident near its Bagoé Gold Mine in West Africa’s Côte d’Ivoire.
The company confirmed that the incident, which occurred on Thursday, January 15, resulted in the death of Moussa Doumbia, an employee of ore haulage contractor Binkadi. In a subsequent update, Perseus advised that another occupant of the vehicle, Vakaramoko Sangare, also a Binkadi employee, has since died after receiving treatment in hospital.
Other passengers involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and have been released from hospital.
Perseus extended its “deepest sympathies” to the families of both men and is providing support alongside contractor Binkadi to help them through the incident.
“Perseus is also offering support to our entire team at the Sissingué complex as they come to terms with this tragic event,” the company said in a statement.
The company said it is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and is consulting with the relevant Ivorian authorities.
The accident occurred offsite near the Bagoé Gold Mine, which forms part of Perseus’s Sissingué operation in northern Côte d’Ivoire.
