An Australian-first initiative is making it easier than ever before for businesses to access specialist support to make their workplaces safe.
A new interactive webpage, hosted by SafeWork SA, has streamlined the process of identifying and contacting certified WHS professionals.
The Sourcing and engaging WHS professionals webpage explains the roles of different WHS professionals, including ergonomists, occupational hygienists and generalists, and links to local, qualified and certified experts.
This is the first collaboration of its type between SafeWork SA and national peak bodies the Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS), the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia (HFESA).
SafeWork SA Executive Director Glenn Farrell said: “Collaboration is key to making positive impacts on health and safety and I’m delighted to host this new, user-friendly, resource, which is the first of its type in Australia. It has never been easier for businesses to identify and contact certified professionals who can help them tackle current and emerging WHS issues.”
AIHS CEO Julia Whitford said: “This is the kind of partnership recommended in the Australian WHS Strategy 2023-2033 to drive down workplace injury and disease.”
AIOH president Jeremy Trotman said: “This resource will raise awareness of the high quality specialist advice WHS professionals can provide, particularly amongst small and medium size businesses.”
HFESA president Sharon Todd said: “We are pleased to work with regulators and other WHS professional bodies to collectively raise the standard of advice to industry.”
Although located on the SafeWork SA website, the information and contacts are national.
